I've Been The Underdog.

Before there was a gym, I was living out of my car. I clawed back — a grocery-store job, a rented room — then put on a suit, walked into a gym, and asked for a shot. That day, Ross Fitness was born. Three years later, the Town of Ayer took our building by eminent domain. I could have folded. Instead I fought it for a year, won, and reopened three times the size. Nobody was coming to save me — I had to bet on myself. That's the standard I coach by, and it's exactly why this gym exists for the people who've been counted out. You don't quit. You dig in. I'm slammed. How much time does this really take?

Most parents train 3–4 mornings a week, and every session is built to be efficient — in, coached, and done before the kids are even up. Sessions are unlimited, so you train as often as your week allows. The whole program is designed around the time you actually have, not the time you wish you had.

Do you really only coach in the mornings?

Yes — 5AM to 1PM Monday through Friday, and 6–11AM Saturday (closed Sunday). One coach, max 4 clients per session, by design. If you're an early riser who wants to train before the day takes over, it's a perfect fit. If you can only train in the evening, OTB isn't the right home for you — and I'd rather tell you that up front.

I've got an old injury — bad back, bad knee, bad shoulder. Can I still train?

That's exactly who this is built for. Every client starts with a movement screen, and Kyle is a post-rehab specialist — we train around your history, not through it. Movement quality comes before load, always.

I haven't trained seriously in years. Am I too out of shape to start?

No. Most people who walk in here have started and stopped before, or haven't trained in a decade. The movement screen meets you exactly where you are, and the program builds from there. With max 4 clients and coaching every set, you're never the lost person in the back of a room of 25 strangers.

What does it cost?

OTB is premium, fully individualized, owner-coached strength coaching — not a big-box membership. We'll walk through the investment together at your in-person consult, once we both know it's the right fit.

What actually happens at the consult?

It's a no-cost, in-person sit-down with Kyle at the gym. We talk through where you are, what's not working, and your goals. No pressure and no hard sell — if OTB is the right fit, we map out your plan that day.

What if it turns out not to be for me?

Train with me for two full weeks. If you don't feel stronger, more confident, and more capable than when you walked in, I refund every dollar. No questions, no fine print.

What is semi-private training — and how is it different from a regular gym?

Semi-private means max 4 clients per session, each with their own program, with Kyle coaching every rep. It is not a class. It is not "do what I do." You get the personal attention of a 1-on-1 coach inside a small, serious group — at a fraction of the cost of traditional personal training. At a regular gym, you are on your own. Here, you are coached.

Is this like CrossFit?

No. CrossFit runs the same workout for everyone in the room and measures success by intensity. OTB is the opposite — your own program, built around your body and history, progressed week over week. Strength is the goal. Fatigue is never the point. If CrossFit beat you up and left you starting over, this is what you were looking for.

Who is Kyle Ross and why does that matter?

Kyle is the owner, the head coach, and the only coach — 20+ years on the floor, 20,000+ hours coaching adults 35–55, IFPA certified, post-rehab specialist. He has built the gym from scratch, fought the town of Ayer when they tried to take the building by eminent domain, won, and reopened three times the size. When you train at OTB, you get Kyle. What kind of results can I actually expect?

Most people feel stronger and move better within the first few weeks. Real strength gains and visible body changes typically show up in the first 2–3 months of consistent, progressive training. Members who stay the course rebuild the kind of strength and athleticism they thought they had left behind in their 30s — and they do it without getting wrecked or starting over every few months.

Is this program for women?

Absolutely. About half of OTB members are women. Strength training after 40 is especially important for women — it builds bone density as estrogen declines, protects joints, restores metabolism, and builds the kind of physical confidence most women have never felt in a gym before. You will not bulk up. You will get strong, capable, and athletic. Many of our women say OTB is the first gym they have ever actually looked forward to.

Where is Ross Fitness located?

12 Central Ave in Ayer, MA 01432 — free parking right outside. We coach members from across the Nashoba Valley including Shirley, Groton, Harvard, Lunenburg, and Littleton. The drive from most surrounding towns is 7–12 minutes. Hours are Monday through Friday 5AM–1PM and Saturday 6–11AM.

Is there a contract or long-term commitment?

No long-term contract. Sessions are unlimited — you train as often as your schedule allows without extra charges. We want you here because it is working, not because you are locked in. The two-week guarantee backs that up.

How do I apply and what happens next?

What is a movement screen and why do you do it?

A movement screen is how every client starts — Kyle watches you move through a series of basic patterns to identify what is tight, what is weak, and where there is risk of injury. That screen shapes your program from day one. We do not guess. We do not load what is broken. We fix it first, then build strength on top of it.

I've tried gyms before and always fall off. Why will this be different?

Because the reason you fell off before was not your fault — it was the system. A gym that gives you access and leaves you to figure it out is not a gym, it is a room with equipment. OTB gives you a coach, a plan built for your body, and a small group that notices when you disappear. The system is built to survive your busiest weeks, not just your motivated ones.

Can I build real muscle at 40, 50, or older?

Yes — and the early progress is often dramatic for people who have been under-training for years. The formula is straightforward: progressive strength training, enough protein, and real recovery. What areas do you serve?

Ross Fitness is in Ayer, MA and serves adults throughout the Nashoba Valley — Shirley, Groton, Harvard, Lunenburg, Littleton, and surrounding communities.
