Build Strength. Build Muscle. Feel Athletic Again.
Semi-private strength coaching for busy adults 40+ who used to be strong — and want it back. Your own program, real muscle, and a body that feels capable again. Coached by Kyle every workout. Max four to a session.
Built around your body and goals — never a template.
Every session. The owner, never a junior trainer.
Real attention and hands-on cueing on every rep.
No per-session guilt — train as often as your week allows.
Layered in, so the muscle you build actually shows.
We build around your history and injuries from day one.
Post-rehab specialist coaching — quality before load.
When you're not there, we pull you back.
Most of our members walk in wanting the same things: visible muscle, real strength, more energy, and to move like an athlete again. If this sounds like you, you'll fit right in.
OTB isn't a sign-up-and-swipe-in gym. Sessions are capped at 4 clients, training is by application only, and we take on just a handful of new people at a time — only the ones we know we can get real results for. If that's you, apply. We'll tell you honestly if it's a fit.
You're not 25, and you're not lazy. You're a busy adult with a job, a household, and a body that's been on the back burner for years. You don't need to be yelled at — you need a coach and a plan that meet you where you actually are.
Bending down to tie their shoes shouldn't be a project. That chronic low-back nag is usually a strength and stability problem — and it's trainable.
It's not just the kids wearing you out. Your body isn't recovering because nothing's training it to. Strength work is what turns the energy back on.
You used to have endless energy. Now you're winded on the stairs and sitting out the backyard games. That slide isn't permanent — reversing it is the whole point.
You're not lazy and you don't lack willpower. You've just never had a system built around your schedule, your injuries, and your real life.
If that sounds like you — busy, achy, no time, been here before — you're exactly who this was built for.
You used to be strong.
You played. You trained. You competed.
Then life happened.
Work. Kids. Stress. The body that used to come easy slipped away — and somewhere along the line you stopped recognizing it. That athlete didn't disappear. They got buried. OTB doesn't start you from zero like you've never lifted a day in your life. We rebuild the strong, capable version of you that's still in there — smarter this time, built to last.
Your first 12 months at OTB — four phases that take you from "I don't recognize my body" to Unbreakable. The same Success Map every member follows.
Reduce stiffness and pain, rebuild consistency, and improve how you move. We start with a movement screen and fix what's broken before we load it — so you regain energy and confidence fast.
Build real muscle and foundational strength. Posture and recovery improve, sustainable habits lock in, and resilience starts to show — with nutrition coaching so the muscle actually shows too.
Build the strongest version of yourself. Athleticism and capability climb, you feel stronger mentally and physically, and you train with purpose — watching your strength rise, phase after phase.
Strength becomes who you are. Lifelong consistency, strength and longevity that last, and a leader in your own family and community. You never start over again.
These aren't fitness influencers. They're people with jobs and families who showed up and didn't quit.
Four simple steps from your first application to your first coached session.
Takes 30 seconds. If it looks like a fit, Kyle reaches out to set up a free in-person session — an honest sit-down about where you are and whether OTB is right for you. No sales pitch.
We look at how you move — not how fit you are. We identify restrictions, imbalances, and pain points so your program is built around your body, not a template.
You get a personalized program designed around your movement screen, your schedule, your injuries, and your goals. Not what works for everyone — what works for you.
Show up, get coached, track progress. Every session has a coach on the floor watching your movement, adjusting your load, and keeping you accountable. Always.
Not all training is the same. Here's what actually separates coached programming from being on your own.
Both built on the same OTB training philosophy — strength as the foundation, fatigue never the goal.
The OTB flagship. Semi-private coaching with fully individualized programming built around your body, your movement screen, and your goals. Maximum 4 clients per session.
The same proven OTB training system in a small group environment. Shared programming, real community, and morning sessions for those who want group energy alongside the OTB system.
Train with me for two full weeks. If you don't feel stronger, more confident, and more capable than when you walked in — I refund every dollar.
I've never had to make good on it. But it's there because I mean every word I say.
When you train here, you're coached by Kyle — every session, every time. Not a staff member, not a substitute. The owner, with 20+ years and 20,000+ hours on the floor.
"Strength is the foundation. Fatigue is never the goal. I coach adults who used to be strong — and want it back: real muscle, real strength, and a body that feels athletic again, built to last."
I work with real people — former athletes, busy professionals, parents — who've been hurt before, who've started and quit before, who need a coach that actually pays attention. Not a check-in text at 9pm. If that's you, you'll fit right in.
I've Been The Underdog.
Before there was a gym, I was living out of my car. I clawed back — a grocery-store job, a rented room — then put on a suit, walked into a gym, and asked for a shot. That day, Ross Fitness was born. Three years later, the Town of Ayer took our building by eminent domain. I could have folded. Instead I fought it for a year, won, and reopened three times the size. Nobody was coming to save me — I had to bet on myself. That's the standard I coach by, and it's exactly why this gym exists for the people who've been counted out. You don't quit. You dig in. Every time.
"You can do this." — JJ
JJ walked through this door in 2013 — late sixties, trained 4–5 times a week for nearly a decade. The men couldn't believe what she could do. The women looked up to her. And she told every new person the same thing: you can do this. If you've been told it's too late, JJ would've laughed at that. Her legacy is the reason this gym exists for the underdog.
They're 27 and they're 57 — brand-new and a decade deep. Former athletes, busy parents, and professionals who showed up, didn't quit, and got stronger.
"In my 10 years of individual and group sessions with Kyle I've lost — and maintained — 25 lbs and 3 pant sizes, recovered from a skiing-related ACL replacement, and still look forward to each workout! He personalizes workouts to match your needs or limitations, and still challenges you to achieve goals you didn't know you had."
"At 57 years old, I am able to keep up with people half my age! The workouts give maximum benefit without the risk of injury or burnout. Kyle pushes me, but is also attentive to making sure I don't overdo it."
"I'm in better shape now at 27 than I was in high school and college. Kyle is more than a trainer — he's a coach and a mentor. This has been the best investment I've made in my life."
"I've made more progress than I did in years of working out at other gyms — and all of my lower back pain has disappeared! You'll love coming to the gym."
"At 40 I'm the strongest and have the best range of motion I've ever had. Coach Kyle has an encyclopedic knowledge of training and nutrition — and the group is genuinely fun to be around."
"Wish I joined 10 years ago! Kyle helped me drop the excuses and hold myself accountable. I started at 3 days a week and now I'm at 6. They push me beyond what I thought was possible."
"He never takes a one-size-fits-all approach. I feel like I have the mobility of a man half my age — and I'm now addicted to working out."

By application only · A free in-person session if it's a fit
Most parents train 3–4 mornings a week, and every session is built to be efficient — in, coached, and done before the kids are even up. Sessions are unlimited, so you train as often as your week allows. The whole program is designed around the time you actually have, not the time you wish you had.
Yes — 5AM to 1PM Monday through Friday, and 6–11AM Saturday (closed Sunday). One coach, max 4 clients per session, by design. If you're an early riser who wants to train before the day takes over, it's a perfect fit. If you can only train in the evening, OTB isn't the right home for you — and I'd rather tell you that up front.
That's exactly who this is built for. Every client starts with a movement screen, and Kyle is a post-rehab specialist — we train around your history, not through it. Movement quality comes before load, always.
No. Most people who walk in here have started and stopped before, or haven't trained in a decade. The movement screen meets you exactly where you are, and the program builds from there. With max 4 clients and coaching every set, you're never the lost person in the back of a room of 25 strangers.
OTB is premium, fully individualized, owner-coached strength coaching — not a big-box membership. We'll walk through the investment together at your in-person consult, once we both know it's the right fit.
It's a no-cost, in-person sit-down with Kyle at the gym. We talk through where you are, what's not working, and your goals. No pressure and no hard sell — if OTB is the right fit, we map out your plan that day.
Train with me for two full weeks. If you don't feel stronger, more confident, and more capable than when you walked in, I refund every dollar. No questions, no fine print.
Semi-private means max 4 clients per session, each with their own program, with Kyle coaching every rep. It is not a class. It is not "do what I do." You get the personal attention of a 1-on-1 coach inside a small, serious group — at a fraction of the cost of traditional personal training. At a regular gym, you are on your own. Here, you are coached.
No. CrossFit runs the same workout for everyone in the room and measures success by intensity. OTB is the opposite — your own program, built around your body and history, progressed week over week. Strength is the goal. Fatigue is never the point. If CrossFit beat you up and left you starting over, this is what you were looking for.
Kyle is the owner, the head coach, and the only coach — 20+ years on the floor, 20,000+ hours coaching adults 35–55, IFPA certified, post-rehab specialist. He has built the gym from scratch, fought the town of Ayer when they tried to take the building by eminent domain, won, and reopened three times the size. When you train at OTB, you get Kyle. Not a junior trainer. Not a rotating staff member. Kyle.
Most people feel stronger and move better within the first few weeks. Real strength gains and visible body changes typically show up in the first 2–3 months of consistent, progressive training. Members who stay the course rebuild the kind of strength and athleticism they thought they had left behind in their 30s — and they do it without getting wrecked or starting over every few months.
Absolutely. About half of OTB members are women. Strength training after 40 is especially important for women — it builds bone density as estrogen declines, protects joints, restores metabolism, and builds the kind of physical confidence most women have never felt in a gym before. You will not bulk up. You will get strong, capable, and athletic. Many of our women say OTB is the first gym they have ever actually looked forward to.
12 Central Ave in Ayer, MA 01432 — free parking right outside. We coach members from across the Nashoba Valley including Shirley, Groton, Harvard, Lunenburg, and Littleton. The drive from most surrounding towns is 7–12 minutes. Hours are Monday through Friday 5AM–1PM and Saturday 6–11AM.
No long-term contract. Sessions are unlimited — you train as often as your schedule allows without extra charges. We want you here because it is working, not because you are locked in. The two-week guarantee backs that up.
Fill out the short application on this page. Kyle reviews it and reaches out to set up a free in-person strategy session at the gym — a 20-minute conversation about where you are and what you are working toward. No pressure, no sales pitch. If it looks like a fit, you start that week.
A movement screen is how every client starts — Kyle watches you move through a series of basic patterns to identify what is tight, what is weak, and where there is risk of injury. That screen shapes your program from day one. We do not guess. We do not load what is broken. We fix it first, then build strength on top of it.
Because the reason you fell off before was not your fault — it was the system. A gym that gives you access and leaves you to figure it out is not a gym, it is a room with equipment. OTB gives you a coach, a plan built for your body, and a small group that notices when you disappear. The system is built to survive your busiest weeks, not just your motivated ones.
Yes — and the early progress is often dramatic for people who have been under-training for years. The formula is straightforward: progressive strength training, enough protein, and real recovery. What changes after 40 is the margin for error, not the mechanism. With coaching, your body responds. We have members in their 50s who are the strongest they have ever been.
Ross Fitness is in Ayer, MA and serves adults throughout the Nashoba Valley — Shirley, Groton, Harvard, Lunenburg, Littleton, and surrounding communities. We are about 45 minutes from Boston and accessible from Route 2 and Route 119. If you are serious about strength coaching and willing to make the drive, we are worth it.
It is built specifically for busy parents over 40. Semi-private coaching with max 4 clients, morning sessions before the day takes over, your own program built around your injuries and schedule, and a coach who notices when you disappear. This is the system most busy parents have been looking for without knowing what to call it.
If things have never come easy — if you've been written off, fallen behind, or told it's too late — you belong here. At OTB, we teach one thing above everything else: don't quit. The work is the answer. Every time.
Apply to Train at OTB →Tell us where you're starting from. We only take a handful of new clients at a time — if it looks like a fit, Kyle will reach out to set up your free in-person session at the gym. Takes 30 seconds to apply.
