Got questions?
Straight answers.

Answered by Kyle Ross · Owner & Head Coach · Ross Fitness · Ayer, MA

The honest answers to what people actually ask before they train at Ross Fitness — about injuries, cost, time, and whether semi-private strength coaching in Ayer is right for them. No fluff.
Do I need to already be in shape to start at Ross Fitness?
No. Most members start out of shape, overworked, or coming back from years off. Every program is built around where you are right now — you're coached, not thrown into a class.
I have an old injury — a bad knee, back, or shoulder. Can I still train?
Yes — that's exactly who this is built for. Every member starts with a movement screen, and Kyle is a post-rehab specialist. We train around your history, not through it.
How is this different from a regular gym or a bootcamp?
It's coaching, not access. Semi-private, max 4 people per session, your own program, with Kyle coaching every rep. No crowded floor, no rotating trainers, no cookie-cutter class. Not a bootcamp — strength is the foundation, and fatigue is never the goal.
What does “semi-private” training actually mean?
You train in a small group of max 4, but everyone follows their own program. You get the personal attention of one-on-one coaching with the energy and accountability of a small group.
Is Ross Fitness a good fit for adults over 40 or 50?
It's built for adults 35–55. Strength training is the single most important thing you can do for your body after 40 — for muscle, joints, energy, and staying capable for decades. The programming respects your recovery and your joints.
I'm a busy parent — how much time does this take?
A few short morning sessions a week. Sessions are efficient and fully coached, so you're not wasting time figuring out what to do. It's built to fit a packed schedule.
What towns do you serve?
Ross Fitness is at 12 Central Ave in Ayer, MA, and coaches members from across the Nashoba Valley — Shirley, Groton, Harvard, Lunenburg, Littleton, Pepperell, Devens, and Leominster.
What are your hours?
Mornings only: Monday to Friday 5 AM to 1 PM, Saturday 6 to 11 AM, closed Sunday.
How much does it cost?
Ross Fitness is premium, fully individualized, owner-coached strength training — not a big-box membership. We walk through the investment together at your free in-person consult.
How do I get started?
It's by application only. Apply at rossfitness.net and, if it's a fit, Kyle reaches out to set up a free in-person session at the gym.
